MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the institute to provide an Educational Forum that delivers the highest quality of Leadership, Public Policy and Campaign Training to serve as the foundation for encouraging and preparing highly motivated and gifted Black women to serve on boards, commissions and seek public offices and etc.

HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF FBWLOC
After retiring from public office. Senator Tanner realized that it is critical to reach back and push forward young Black female leadership in our community. In order to address this need, she established the Senator Gloria Tanner Leadership and Training Institute for Future Black Women Leaders of Colorado.
The purpose of this institute is to identify, prepare, educate and encourage Black Women to take on the challenge of leadership in the public and private sectors. The Institute is the first of its kind in Colorado with the commitment to identify Black Women across the state and prepare them to run for elected office, to seek an appointment and/or advancement in the Corporate/political arenas. |

Throughout this new millennium, this institute will provide a forum to educate and inspire Black women to achieve excellence - to be first - to be great leaders. The institute is proud to extend its hand to Black Women as they prepare to take the first step to becoming Colorado's Future Black Women Leaders of tomorrow. We know that they will be "stepping high on the heels of yesterday, and lifting as they climb".
